This course has been running for over 25 years and has attracted over 1,000 delegates from around the world. The three-day event is designed to give an insight into the characteristics and problems associated with a variety of the most commonly carried Bulk Oil and Petrochemical cargoes shipped around the world.
We believe this Course is unique in that it focuses on all aspects of oil production, storage and shipment. This encompasses an introduction to oil chemistry and the refining processes, measurement techniques, common problems and methods of investigating and mitigating quantity and quality claims. At all times, this is combined with practical “hands on” demonstrations”.
The principal objective of the programme is to provide an appreciation of:-
- Origin and Refining of Oil
- Petroleum Products
- Shortage Risks
- Contamination
- Quality Disputes
- The Importance of Samples and Joint Analysis Procedures
- Mitigation Strategies
- Insurance Claim Issues
A key aspect of oil movements is the role of the inspectors and surveyors whose job it is record cargo details and investigate losses. The Course programme includes a visit to an Oil Terminal and an inspection laboratory to see first-hand how oil is stored, measured, sampled and tested.
The Course is limited in the number of delegates that we can accommodate. This is to ensure that all attendees get the opportunity to take a full and interactive part in the event. For this reason, early application is recommended to secure a place.
