This unique three-day course is designed to provide delegates with an overview of all aspects of steel production, storage and shipment and is combined with site visits and practical “hands on” demonstrations.
MTD have for many years been involved in the training of delegates engaged in the insurance industry, primarily through one of our bespoke Courses which have been designed to outline and explain technical aspects of particular manufacturing and transportation industries.
The course aim is to provide an introduction to steel markets and an insight into the steel industry from the raw material stage, through the manufacturing process, to the finished product in all its different forms, and issues arising from its shipment together with methods of investigating and mitigating claims.
The principal objectives of the programme are to provide an appreciation of:
- Raw Materials
- Producing Iron
- Manufacturing Steel and Steel Products
- How Value is Added as Products Progress from Semi Finished to Finished Products
- Handling and Transportation Issues
- Common Types of Damage
- Mitigation Strategies
- Insurance Claim Disputes
This course includes a guided tour of a modern Steelworks, allowing delegates to witness the production processes as well as the scale of operations and packing methods.
The Course is limited in the number of delegates that we can accommodate. This is to ensure that all attendees get the opportunity to take a full and interactive part in the event. For this reason, early application is recommended to secure a place.
